Mrs. Fanny Ama Darkey is a seasoned and accomplished administrator with 27 years of dedicated service to higher education in Ghana. She has risen through the administrative ranks to become Deputy Registrar at Cape Coast Technical University, a leading technical university in Ghana. Her expertise spans academic administration, student affairs, and overall institutional management. She is a results-oriented and detail–oriented person, creative, adaptable, has a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, and is passionate about contributing to the growth and development of her subordinates and students.
Mrs. Darkey is a Chartered Administrator and Management Consultant from the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultant-Ghana (CIAMC). She holds an M. Phil. Administration in Higher Education, B.Ed. Home Economics and a Diploma in Biology from the University of Cape Coast.
Over the years, She has had the privilege to demonstrate excellence, resilience, commitment, and leadership in various capacities. Notable among them as Director, Directorate of Legal, Consular and General Services (in charge of legal matters, consular services, transport, campus security and the University’s Basic School) (April, 2023 to date), Director of Academic Affairs (2019 to March, 2023), Head of the Personnel/Welfare (February, 2014 to April, 2014), Head of Academic Affairs in-charge-of Admission, Records and Examinations (2009-2013), Head of Examinations (2013-2019), Head of General Administration (2005-2009) and Acting Registrar of CCTU (December, 2018- August 2019).
Her services to the University community are in the areas of servicing Committees and Boards as Secretary, member, and recorder. The Board and Committees include the Development Committee Disciplinary Board (Senior Members), Finance committee, Academic Board, Executive Committee of Academic Board, Examination Board, Examination Malpractice Committee, Matriculation and Congregation Committees, Library Resource and Bookshop committee, University Council, Strategic Planning Committee and a host of others since I was employed in 1998.
She plays an additional role as Chairperson of the University Editorial Board, Internal Consultant, and facilitator for the University. Her knowledge and collaborative approach to the Committee and Board meetings have made her a valuable contributor to governance, quality assurance, and strategic planning.
In each of these roles, Mrs Darkey has contributed significantly to the University’s development, policy implementation, academic integrity, and administrative innovation.
Her service outside Cape Coast Technical University includes a Panel Member of CIAMC Ghana, External Assessor for some selected technical universities for the promotions of applicants to the ranks of Deputy Registrar, Senior Assistant Registrar, and Assistant Registrar.

Mrs Darkey is into organisational development and contributes to developing a more ethical and sustainable society. She has published two articles in reputable journals.
Mrs. Fanny Ama Darkey’s leadership, institutional memory and deep understanding of higher educational operations have positioned her as a key figure in the ongoing transformation and advancement of the Cape Coast Technical University and technical education in Ghana.
