Profile
Michael Kissi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Tourism Management, Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU). Michael has been an academic staff member of the CCTU, formerly Cape Coast Polytechnic, since 1st April 2003, some 22 years now and counting. During this period, Michael has contributed greatly to the growth of the University in the areas of teaching, research and grants or project proposal writing, and community service. He has served as the Head, Department of Tourism Management for a cumulative period of six years; the Vice Dean, School of Applied Arts, CCTU for about a year; Director of Open and Distance Learning for two years; Head, Department of Fashion Design and Textile Studies for a year; and a member of the academic board of the university for a cumulative period of nine years.
In addition, he has served on other Boards and Committees within the University and beyond, including the School of Applied Arts, and the School of Applied Sciences and Technology Boards, the Eagle FM Board, the CCTU Co-Operative Credit Union Board of Directors, the Partnership for Applied Sciences (PASS) Committee, and the Central Regional Coordinating Committee of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Michael has also served as a Resource Person for the Japanese International Co-Operation Agency (JICA) for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, and was a Rapporteur for one of the Sub-Committees of the National Dialogue for Tertiary Education in 2016, and so on.
In the area of teaching, he has participated in the training of over one thousand three hundred graduates of the Department from 2003 to 2024. He has also supervised ninety-two (92) project works over the period. He has participated in developing the curricula for the Department of Tourism Management, including the curricula for the B.Tech. Tourism Management programme, both the top-up and the Four-Year programmes, which have been duly accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC); the re-accreditation of the HND Tourism programme; and the CTVET-accredited Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management programme.
