Profile

Francis Padi Lamptey is a Lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Postharvest Technology at Cape Coast Technical University, Ghana. He holds a PhD in Food and Postharvest Technology from the University of Cape Coast, where his research centered on the innovative applications of handheld near-infrared spectroscopic technology for quality assessment of fruits and fruit products in Ghana. His academic and research expertise span food fraud detection, food safety, postharvest technology, and mycotoxins research. He received a competitive RUFORUM scholarship to pursue his MPhil in Food and Post-Harvest Technology, and has since contributed to numerous high-impact research projects and peer-reviewed publications that address key challenges in food integrity and security. Francis has presented his work at various national and international conferences and has earned recognition and funding support from organizations such as the Ghana Skills Development Fund and Innovate UK. Passionate about the use of digital and non-destructive technologies, his work is geared toward reducing postharvest losses and strengthening food authenticity systems in Ghana and across Africa. Beyond academia, Francis is deeply engaged in youth leadership and community service through his active roles in The Apostolic Church – Ghana. He is committed to leveraging science and technology for sustainable agricultural development and capacity building.
